European Aquatics Championships 2026
The 2026 European Aquatics Championships will bring Europe's best aquatic athletes to Paris, France, from 31 July to 16 August 2026. Marking the 38th edition of the championships and the centenary of the competition, the event will showcase five aquatic disciplines across iconic Paris 2024 Olympic venues. Fans can watch events live and free on Eurovision Sport, subject to broadcast restrictions.

The Venues: Paris Aquatic Centre and the River Seine
The 2026 European Aquatics Championships will make full use of the legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with competition split across two spectacular venues.
The Paris Aquatic Centre (Centre Aquatique Olympique de la Métropole du Grand Paris) in Saint-Denis will host swimming, diving and artistic swimming. Built for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the state of the art venue has quickly become one of Europe's premier aquatics facilities and will serve as the main hub of the championships.
Meanwhile, the River Seine will provide the backdrop for the open water swimming and high diving events at Bras de Grenelle and Port Debilly respectively. Set in the heart of Paris, these iconic locations will offer one of the most distinctive settings in international aquatics, continuing the city's use of the Seine as a showcase venue following the Olympic Games.
It will also be the first time France has hosted the European Aquatics Championships since Strasbourg in 1987.
European Aquatics Championships 2024 Results
The 2024 European Aquatics Championships took place in Belgrade, Serbia, bringing together 800 athletes across swimming, diving, artistic swimming and open water swimming. The championships served as one of the final major international competitions before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, producing several outstanding performances from established Olympic and World champions, alongside the emergence of Europe's next generation of aquatic stars.
Hungary finished top of the overall medal table with an impressive haul of 31 medals, while Spain edged Greece into second place thanks to one more gold medal.

Several of the sport's biggest names delivered memorable performances in Belgrade. Hungary's Kristóf Milák, a 2-time Olympic and 3-time World champion in butterfly, returned to top form by winning both the men's 100m and 200m butterfly titles. Fellow Hungarian Hubert Kós, who would later become Olympic champion in the 200m backstroke at Paris 2024, added European gold in the 200m individual medley and helped Hungary dominate the swimming medal table. Romania's David Popovici, already a World freestyle champion and future Olympic champion (200m freestyle at Paris 2024), completed the sprint freestyle double by winning both the men's 100m and 200m freestyle.
Germany's Leonie Beck successfully defended her women's 10km open water title after edging Italy's Barbara Pozzobon by just one tenth of a second. In artistic swimming, Austria's Vasiliki Alexandri enjoyed a remarkable championship by winning both the women's solo technical and solo free titles, while Dutch sisters Bregje and Noortje de Brouwer claimed gold in both the duet technical and duet free events to underline the Netherlands' strength ahead of the Paris Olympic Games.
