Biathlon Venue: Tehvandi Biathlon Stadium

Often referred to as Estonia's winter capital, Otepää is home to the Tehvandi Sports Centre, located approximately 149 metres above sea level in southern Estonia. The venue is widely recognised for its varied terrain, combining steady climbs with flowing descents that reward athletes who manage pacing carefully.

This will be the second time that Tehvandi has hosted the BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup. Tehvandi has previously hosted the Youth and Junior World Championships in 2024 and 2018, the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2024, as well as major cross-country skiing competitions.

The stadium grandstand accommodates 1,300 spectators, with compact viewing areas that create an intense, close to the action atmosphere around the shooting range.

Recap: IBU World Cup Kontiolahti 2026

The BMW IBU World Cup stop in Kontiolahti delivered decisive results as the 2025/2026 season entered its closing phase, with clean shooting and relay composure proving crucial across six races in Finland.

  • Perfect shooting performances decided titles, with Eric Perrot winning the Men's 20km Individual with no targets missed, while Sturla Holm Lægreid closed the weekend by winning the Men's Mass Start with a flawless shooting performance.
  • Sweden's women had a strong event - Elvira Öberg won the 15km Individual and Mass Start silver, while Sweden also secured victory in the Women's Relay with controlled, penalty free shooting.
  • Norway won the Men's 4x7.5km Relay without a penalty loop and placed two athletes, Sturla Holm Lægreid & Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen, on the podium in both the Men's Individual and Mass Start, underlining their squad depth late in the season.
  • France's Julia Simon's victory in the Women's Mass Start, reinforced her reputation as one of the most reliable head to head racers on the circuit.
