Junior World Championships Gymnastics 2023 Antalya

The second FIG Junior Artistic Gymnastics World Championships (29 March - 2 April 2023) in Antalya, Türkiye delivered historic firsts and memorable moments. In an impressive sweep, Japan captured both the men's and women's team titles on opening days.

Several young standouts emerged as multi-medallists, announcing themselves as names to watch. On the boys' side, Tsunogai Tomoharu of Japan was a breakout star - he clinched three gold medals, winning the parallel bars (jointly with Ángel Barajas) and horizontal bar finals in addition to contributing to Japan's team victory. In the girls' competition, Nakamura Haruka led the way for Japan, claiming the women's all-around title, a team gold and a bronze in the floor exercise.

A tie for gold between Japan's Tsunogai and Colombia's Barajas meant both boys earned the title of parallel bars champion; This double-gold outcome, while uncommon, highlighted the exceptionally high level of competition.

When all 14 events were concluded, Japan topped the medal standings to confirm their status as the meet's most successful nation. Japanese gymnasts won 5 gold medals (8 total medals) - the highest of any delegation.
